As part of its proposal for an EU Migration and Asylum Pact, the European Commission has pledged to present legislative proposals on legal migration in 2021 to better match labor demand and supply, enable better, faster access to visas and work permits, and increase the intra-EU mobility of foreign workers.
Over the course of 2019 and 2020, several EU member states have taken action to create or expand labor migration pathways, regularize part of the undocumented population, and increase protections for some categories of migrants. How effective have these different approaches been? And are there lessons to be learned at the EU level?
At this event, the authors of a new report, Towards an EU Toolbox for Migrant Workers: Labour Mobility and Regularisation in Germany, Italy, and Spain in 2020, will discuss their findings with representatives of the European Parliament and the European Commission.
